Iva, Kalina and Sandra run Skopje Casual, a blog that “celebrates the impression of urbanity” with special focus on the street fashion in Skopje, the capital of Republic of Macedonia. Check out the interview below where they talk about how they got started, how they work together as a team running one blog and give their best tips and advice on starting and growing a blogging presence.
What separates the Skopje Casual crew from many other blogs is that they met online, they run the blog as a team of three and they put a local perspective on their content by focusing on fashion of their city. Definitely something for newbie bloggers to get inspired and learn from.
Hi girls, how and why did you start a blog?
It all began very spontaneously. Sandra and Iva met each other on Pinterest and discovered that Kalina is a mutual friend. Pinning and repinning, we realized that there were no style blogs in Macedonia that were devoted to casual fashion, so we decided to make one.

How much time do you spend working on it?
Since there are three of us, so far we didn’t have the need to make a strict working schedule, somehow one of us is always more free than the others, and takes the charge. We let our inspiration decide when to work, so some days it could be 20 minutes, and some days it could be hours.
Our usual tasks are choosing themes, finding adequate photos, and sometimes content writing and photo processing.
What would you like to share with people who want to start?
Blog about things that inspire you and make you happy. That way your blog will not be another responsibility, but a time you enjoy spending. Working in a team is also a great experience. It’s a very good way to make sure the blog gets updated regularly, and the friendship that comes out from sharing your passions on one place is irreplaceable.
What is your best advice on growing a blog?
Local content always beats everything else. Try to give your posts a local perspective, so that the readers can connect to it more easily. Afterwards, once you’ve gained their attention, they will start sharing their perspectives on global matters.
What is the biggest blogging mistake to avoid?
Writing because you’re obliged to. Every post that is written just for the sake of writing something should stay a draft forever.
Note: Check out the recent post published about this and how you can use procrastination to help your writing.
What is your biggest success as a blogger?
Our fan base and the shares, likes, comments we receive each day. So far we’ve won two awards for best fashion blog and best photo blog in Macedonia, but still it’s the everyday supporters that are our greatest joy and accomplishment.
