I regularly get questions similar to this one:
I did steps 1, 2, and 3 from some online course, I did this and that task that I read in some book, but I didn’t see the results that I was expecting. What should I do next?
There are no simple formulas and easy step-by-steps to success in the blogging industry. If it was easy everyone would be a successful blogger earning money from their blogs instead of trying to earn money on selling you products teaching you how to earn money.
The blogging times are constantly changing
The times are constantly changing and so is blogging. The tried and true tactics and strategies that social media experts recommend are often outdated and wrong. To become a successful blogger it is necessary to be independent and ignore a lot of conventional tips and advice that is found online. It is important to beware of the best blogging practices.
On my own blog I try and give you best advice and practices to follow, things that worked for me, things that I have learned in my blogging experience, recommendations from other successful bloggers. Some of my advice may work perfectly for you, some tips might inspire you to test something new out and succeed, but just as much might not work at all in your case.
Good blog advice can become old and ineffective pretty quickly in a fast-moving world like the blogging world and the world of Internet business. Experience and large knowledge is not necessary a plus in such a fast moving world.
10 years of blogging experience is very often 1 year’s experience repeated 10 times. In situations like these you get stuck. Stuck in the old habits, stuck in the old mindset, stuck doing things you’ve always done but seeing diminishing results.
It is not easy to keep reinventing your day job
Experience is not necessary the most important keyword on the blogging CV, other traits are valuable. Traits as always being open to seeing things differently and always learning new things. Traits like always questioning past accomplishments and present actions.
Qualities like asking questions and looking for new answers in the facts without just looking for knowledge that supports your established way of thinking and doing.
It is not easy to keep reinventing your day job, to keep changing how you create content, to keep exploring and finding new ways of spreading the word about your content. It is not easy but it is necessary.
Social media platforms change continuously, new potential sources of blog traffic keep popping up regularly, consumers keep changing their habits and ways they consume content, and search engines are constantly evaluating and changing the way they rank websites in their results.
So what is there to do for a blogger in such a world?
So what is there to do for a blogger in such a world? Trust in yourself. Question things. Test things. Explore. Nobody has a complete roadmap that will get you there. You can get ideas and inspiration from other people, but you have to find it your own way.
